New agreement creates programs specifically focused on preparing students for the CCNA certification
?University of Phoenix today announced an agreement with Cisco that will create new programs dedicated to providing the body of knowledge needed to attain the Cisco CCNA? certification. Cisco is an industry leader in network support, and the associate-level CCNA certification is vital to those seeking to enter or advance in the high-growth field of system networking and support.
Job growth for network administrators, network support specialists and computer network architects is projected to grow by more than 20 percent by 2018 according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. With this opportunity comes a need for highly trained workers familiar with the latest networking technology and systems.
?University of Phoenix is dedicated to providing our students with employable education that is relevant to the current needs of their industries. This new agreement with Cisco is a perfect complement to this commitment,? said Dr. Bill Pepicello, president of University of Phoenix. ?Not only will we be able to offer our students another venue to obtain relevant industry experience, we are able to offer an important degree and certificate program that combines University of Phoenix?s best-in-class learning technologies with Cisco?s industry-leading network training and support.?
University of Phoenix is the first university to offer an associate degree program with a concentration specifically designed with CCNA certification as part of Cisco?s new Workforce Transformation Program. For those students interested in gaining just the certification, Cisco?s technology curricula have also been incorporated into a separate certificate program which offers the CCNA-specific courses as a stand-alone program.
?University of Phoenix has one of the best and largest IT degree programs in the world,? says Andres Sintes, global director of Cisco?s Worldwide Learning Partner Channels. ?Coupled for the first time with Cisco?s award-winning certification program, this unique union is truly enabling workforce transformation, which can only help individuals and our economy.?
?The addition of the Cisco courses enables University of Phoenix students to further enhance their backgrounds with practical insight and IT skills that translate directly to the workplace,? Pepicello continued. ?They enhance the existing University of Phoenix curriculum by combining both companies? technological resources to create a distinctive and highly applicable mix of classroom and lab-based, industry-specific learning techniques.?
