PORTLAND ? Workers at Daimler?s Portland truck plant ended their three-week-long strike after negotiating new wage and labor terms Monday.

All of the plant?s 725 machinists and painters working on Swan Island went on strike after rejecting a contract on July 2. Employees said they deserved higher raises after four years of wage freezes, according to a spokesman for the workers.

The new terms included a wage increase of $1.55 per hour over 40 months. Workers will return to work Tuesday morning.

The Daimler Trucks North America plant on Swan Island makes up to 30 Western Star trucks a day.
